The formal announcement issued by the two clubs and teams reads: Emirates Team New Zealand is pleased to confirm that the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron has accepted a Notice of Challenge for the 37th America's Cup (AC37) from Hollowell Sailing Club, represented by INEOS Team UK, which will act as the Challenger of Record for AC37.
"The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron have received and accepted a challenge for the 37th America's Cup from our long-standing British friends at Hollowell." Said Aaron Young - RNZYS Commodore. Along with Emirates Team New Zealand, we look forward to working through the details of the next event with them. "
HSC Commodore Smith said “The Hollowell spirit will shine through next year, I am sure”. Asked about the sailing restrictions at Hollowell, he said “I see no issue with the length of the course as the races will cease after the first 100 mtrs as whoever is in the lead at that time tends to be the winner anyway. I am very much looking forward to meeting with the Commodore of the The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, I am sure we have a lot in common".
