HSC Self Managed BOAT Handicap Race Instructions v1.3

These instructions are for self managed racing with support from the DO to set the course and record the finish positions.

1. A minimum of two single DO/BO manned patrol boat will be on the water. One or more per free sailing and one during races.
2. The start/finish line will be either two buoys or the pontoon and a single buoy positioned by the patrol boat.
3. Other course marks will be at fixed positions and do not need to be moved for the race.
4. The Course board will be displayed on the pontoon. Wash hands before and after touching the Course board.
5. Competitors should synchronise their watches with the new radio controlled digital clock in the club house.
6. The boat Class Start Time and Finish Time for each race will be published on the club web site, they will not be displayed on the club house notice board.
7. Competitors should ensure they have noted their boat Start Time and End Time for each race before they go onto the water as there will not be any starting signals and they may not hear the whistle for race end.
8. Competitors should cross the start line on or after their published boat Class Start Time. There will be no signal from the DO/BO.
9. The race will end at the published Finish Time. The DO will blow a whistle and record the boat positions assisted by competitors who should mentally note who is in front and behind them.
10. The finish positions will be communicated verbally and posted to the Members Facebook page. The positions will not be displayed on the club notice board.
11. To avoid touching the Race Office computer the results will not be recorded in Sailwave.

These instructions are for self managed racing with support from the DO to set the course and record the finish positions.

2. The start/finish line will be either two buoys or the pontoon and a single buoy positioned by the patrol boat.
3. Other course marks will be at fixed positions and do not need to be moved for the race.
4. The Course board will be displayed on the pontoon. Wash hands before and after touching the Course board.
5. Competitors should synchronise their watches with the new radio controlled digital clock in the club house.
6. Competitor Personal Handicaps will be in the range from -10 to +5
7. Competitors should note their Personal Start Time from their Personal Handicap per the table below:
8. Competitors should cross the start line on or after their Personal Start Time. There will be no signal from the DO/BO.
9. After 50 minutes once the lead boat passes the start/finish line, there will be a grand-prix style finish .
10. The DO/BO will record the sail number of each boat as it crosses the finish line. Each competitor should mentally note who is directly in front and behind them. 11. The race will end once all boats have finished or 20 minutes after the lead boat has finished whichever is sooner.
12. The finish positions will be communicated verbally and posted to the Members Facebook page. The positions will not be displayed on the club notice board.
13. The winner will take one minute off their Personal Handicap for subsequent races.
14. To avoid touching the Race Office computer the results will not be recorded in Sailwave.
