Day Courses - Essential Information

No such thing as 'bad weather' just the 'wrong clothes'.

Times

All full day courses are normally 9.15 - 17.15. Please be changed and ready by 0930. Do not under estimate how long it takes to get changed! For Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions please try to arrive by 1730 and be rigged and ready by 1800.

Comfort Breaks

We will of course regularly return to the shore for classroom sessions and short breaks - more often if the weather is against us!

Hot drinks will be available to buy from the galley.
Saturday:- You will need to bring your own lunch. We do have a microwave and cooker available.
Sunday:- Hot meal available on SUNDAY'S - BUT NOT DURING JULY & AUGUST!

Your Course

Please note HSC does not carry insurance for individual’s boats.

If you cannot attend your course, or for any reason HSC cannot provide training on the due date, an alternative will be offered. No refunds will be given. HSC must be in receipt of the full course fee before a delegate can commence their course.

Please do not leave valuables in the changing rooms, lockers are available, ask an instructor.
Participants are expected to adhere to the rules of Hollowell Sailing Club. Failure to do so may be result in you being asked to leave the site.

Participants automatically grant to Hollowell Sailing Club without payment the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television of or relating to the event.

For Dinghy courses the fee includes the certificate, logbook and handbooks where appropriate.

Non-members are welcome subject to available places. Adult courses are open to anyone over the age of 12 years.

Bad weather – We will always do our best to run the course, so if it’s raining or just general bad weather, the course will go-ahead. However we do reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the course.

What to bring

  • Warm clothing for the upper body, close fitting sweat shirts
  • Warm hat and gloves
  • Wetsuit if you have one
  • Wet suit boots or trainers that you don’t mind getting wet. NOT wellingtons!
  • Towel and change of clothes
  • Medication you may require
  • Sun screen and a suitable hat in summer
  • Your RYA logbook if you have done a previous course.
  • Willingness to have some fun!
